Hailing from Southern California, J. R. received a B.S. in Economics & Mathematics from USC in 2018, where he graduated with honors.

J. R. co-founded the USC Economics Review, which aims to provide a platform for undergraduate students to apply critical thinking to the most pressing economic issues of our time.

While at USC, J. R. worked with Professor Rodney Ramcharan on various research projects spanning the fields of housing finance and financial intermediation.

His senior honors thesis explored the impact of regulatory costs enshrined in the Dodd-Frank Act on the lending activity of banks and their subsidiaries.

Upon graduating from USC, J. R. joined the PhD program in finance at MIT Sloan.

J. R. is passionate about fostering interest and excitement in students. At MIT, he served as a teaching assistant for the following courses:
